Board-Certified Neurologist & Clinical Neurophysiologist
Dr. Zainab Alalawi is a board certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist with experience practicing within major academic and hospital health systems. She previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Health System and practiced as a neurologist at Dartmouth Health in New Hampshire. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr. Alalawi believes that better understanding and better communication lead to better care. Her approach is centered on helping patients understand their neurological condition, treatment options, and goals so they can make informed decisions that reflect their individual needs and priorities. Recognizing that fragmented care can create unnecessary stress and uncertainty, she also prioritizes direct communication with primary care physicians and other specialists, helping to close the loop between members of a patient’s care team and provide a more coordinated approach to care.

Short, plain-language overviews of the conditions we see most, each linked to related videos and articles.
Migraines may cause throbbing headache pain, nausea, visual changes, and sensitivity to light or sound.
Seizures result from abnormal electrical activity in the brain and may cause staring, confusion, unusual movements, loss of awareness or consciousness, or convulsions.
A concussion may lead to headache, dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, brain fog, memory difficulty, or problems with balance.
Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory condition of the brain and spinal cord that may affect vision, sensation, strength, balance, fatigue, and cognition.
Parkinson’s disease may affect movement, balance, and cognition, causing tremor, stiffness, slowness, walking difficulty, and other non-motor symptoms.
Persistent changes in memory, language, judgment, behavior, or everyday abilities may reflect Alzheimer’s disease or another treatable or neurological condition.
Diagnostics and in-office procedures, explained before anything is scheduled.
An EEG records the brain’s electrical activity and helps evaluate seizures, staring spells, and unexplained episodes of lost awareness or consciousness.
EMG and nerve-conduction studies show how well the nerves and muscles are working when you have numbness, tingling, weakness, cramping, or muscle loss.
Botox is a preventive treatment for adults with chronic migraine who experience 15 or more headache days each month.
Targeted Botox injections relax selected overactive muscles to reduce spasticity and improve comfort, positioning, and movement.
Trigger point injections target painful, tight areas of muscle that may contribute to persistent head, neck, shoulder, or upper-back pain.
An occipital nerve block places numbing medication near the nerves at the back of the head to evaluate and relieve certain headache patterns.
Patients travel to us from across Collin County and North Dallas. If travel is difficult, a telemedicine visit covers most follow-ups and many first visits.
